Metal Festival
This programme is promoted by Unwind Center an organization that aims at promoting clean
music and encouraging and nurturing talents
The poster for the programme says “It’s the time to get a preventive neck massage, it’s the
time to METALISE!!” In the words of modern scholar Dr. Jeffrey Arnett, metal concerts are
"the sensory equivalent of war." Metal has a status that no other genre of music can have.
This programme will be held on 31st Jan, 2009, at 6 pm, at KRMM Hall, 4th Crescent Road,
Gandhinagar, Adyar, Chennai – 20. Cost of donation pass is Rs. 100.

Times Campus Connect
At: Hindustan College of Arts & Science
This is an inter-college festival. Among the many anticipated programmes, performance by Devi’s
Dance group on 30th January and Junkyard Groove on 31st January stand out. Those interested can
collect free passes from Times Office at Chamiers Road, Nandanam.

Naseeruddin Shah's Plays
At Music Academy;
Madras Round Table #1 is joining hands with Mukti, an NGO that provides mobility to physically
challenged persons, to present their fund-raising plays by Naseeruddin Shah on February 7th and 8th
– Co-ordinated by Media Mix. The details of the play are:
Sat Feb 7th, 7 pm, a Hindi Play "Ismat Apa Ke Naam" by Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah &
Heeba Shah. The play is based on three women-oriented stories by famed Urdu writer Ismat Chugtai.
Sun Feb 8th, 7 pm, an English Play -- "Dear Liar" by Naseeruddin Shah & Ratna Pathak . The play is
adapted from the famous exchange of letters between George Bernard Shaw and Mrs. Patrick
Campbell. Ground Floor: Rs 2500, Rs1500, Rs1000, & Rs 500. Balcony (free seating): Rs 350. For

Panchamukhi - A Dance Ensemble
The concept, script and visualization are by Anand P, Choreography by Madhusudhanan and music by
Ranjit Govind. The performance dig into various dance forms to show the effect of the body, mind and
intellect. The performance is on January 31, 7 pm, at Chinmaya Heritage Centre.

Mono Acts at Backyard - Alliance Francaise
Popular stage actors gather together to show case their prowess. Michael Muthu’s Boardwalders will
perform a piece from Albert Camus’s Caligula; Vinay Varma’s Sutradhar will do ‘This is Nathuram
Godse speaking’ ; Ajit Chittur’s Thespian will perform from Shakespeare’s Macbeth; Arka
mukhopadhyay’s Logos
Theatre will do Alfred Tennyson’s Ulysses and Archita Chandra will do a scene from Vijay Tendulkar’s
‘Silence, the Court is in session’ This is likely to be a good treat for theatre buffs. Tickets are priced
Rs.200 and Rs.100. At Alliance Francaise, College Road, on January 31 and February 1 at 7.30 pm

Western Classical Music Concert
This programme is presented by pianist, Mira Sundara Rajan. The concert will be based on Johannes
Brahms’ music mainly. It will also include pieces from Beethoven, Bach, Robert Schumann and
Chopin. At Sivagami Petachi auditorium, 179 Luz Church Road, Mylapore, on February 1, at 6.30 pm.

Shreya Ghosal in Concert
She is the one who has sung in Devdas, Aap ka Suroor, Cheeni Kum, Om Shanti Om, Krrish etc. See
her perform at The Music Academy, No 168/306, TTK Road, Alwarpet, January 31 at 7 pm. Tickets
